Terms and Conditions
The rules for using our website and giving to SPARKS, in plain language.
Effective date: August 29, 2026
1. Who we are
SPARKS Book Club ("SPARKS," "we," "our," or "us") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 42-1928886, operating a youth-led virtual book club for elementary-school students. These terms apply to sparkslearning.org and to donations made through it.
By using this website or making a donation, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
2. Using this website
You're welcome to read, share, and link to anything here. Please don't use the site to break the law, to interfere with how it works for other people, or to try to gain access to systems or data that aren't yours.
We may change, pause, or remove parts of the site at any time. We aim to keep it available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be online or error-free.
3. Donations
Donations to SPARKS are voluntary charitable gifts. When you give:
- You confirm you're authorized to use the payment method, and that the information you give us is accurate.
- All amounts are in U.S. dollars.
- Your card is charged once, for the amount you chose. We don't set up recurring charges unless you explicitly ask for one.
- Payment is handled on Bank of America's secure hosted page. We never see or store your full card number.
- Gifts are used to further our charitable mission. We may direct funds wherever the need is greatest across the program.
See our Donation and Refund Policy for what happens if something goes wrong with a gift, and our Deliverable Policy for what you receive after giving.
4. Tax deductibility
SPARKS Book Club is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You receive no goods or services in exchange for a gift, which means the full amount is generally deductible. We're not able to give tax advice — please talk to your own adviser about your situation.
5. Joining the program
Enrolling a student is free and separate from donating. Enrollment is subject to available space and to the age range we serve. We may need to close enrollment for a session once packages have been ordered.
Our sessions are youth-led and adult-supervised. A parent or guardian is responsible for their child's participation, including supervising the hands-on activities in the package.
6. Our content
The text, images, logo, and design of this site belong to SPARKS or to the people who created them for us. You're welcome to share links and quote us with credit. Please ask before reproducing our materials or using our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse something.
Books and published materials we use in sessions belong to their own authors and publishers.
7. Other people's services
We rely on outside services to run the program and this site — including Bank of America for payments, and the tools listed in our Privacy Policy. When you use one of those, that company's own terms and privacy policy apply. We're not responsible for how they operate.
8. What we can and can't promise
We run SPARKS carefully and in good faith, but the website and its content are provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits any liability that can't be limited by law.
9. Changes to these terms
If we update these terms, we'll change the effective date at the top and post the current version here.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
